AYPF is currently working on a project focused on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and accountability for educating students in
juvenile justice facilities, which has given me a new perspective into what high quality educational opportunities can look like inside
secured facilities.
Every two years, the Office of
Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention of the U.S. Department of
Justice completes a
Juvenile Residential
Facility Census, which includes the number of youth in
secured facilities.
