teachers in the regular
public schools, and real technological change — which outsources work to distant locations, allows students and money to leave, substitutes capital
for labor, and in other ways disrupts the existing job structure — is a threat to the
security and stability that the unions seek.

public schools if they had been told that the future promised a tripling in real spending
for education; a major reduction in class size; and increased job
security, higher pay, and sizable new fringe benefits
for teachers?

Teacher pension plans are already in bed with Wall Street; the «retirement
security crisis» narrative ignores data showing that elderly Americans are doing better and better; today's defined benefit pension plans just don't work that well

teachers; and the costs of today's pension plans are enormous and are affecting
schools and other
public services.
The following report analyzes the changes states have made over time, and how those changes impact the retirement
security for our nation's
public school teachers.
And yet this lack of funding
for school safety and
security is only one small aspect of a much bigger, growing problem presented by the lack of
public education investment:
teacher salaries.
But
for public school teachers, hinder their future
security.
Eighty - five percent of Colorado
teachers and other
school employees will leave
public employment with insufficient retirement savings and no Social
Security benefit
for that work.
Shortly after he was elected with CEA's first endorsement in 2010, the governor of this state disrespected every
teacher with his «tenure» comment, then promoted Common Core, supported the corporate education movement through charter
schools, advocated
for more and more standardized testing, hired an education commissioner who had absolutely no
public school experience (in fact had ties to charter
schools), chipped away at
teacher security through negative tenure reform, and championed the complete elimination of the state contribution to the retired
teacher's health insurance fund.
We conclude that
