saw the
movie «Her,» and
while it isn't the
best movie I've ever
seen, it is pretty much at the top when it comes to raising fascinating questions: what it means to be human, what we mean when we talk about love and intimacy, what sex is, and yes, how we can be so connected to and dependent on technology — especially technology that responds in loving ways and gives us exactly what we want — that we actually can have a romantic relationship with it.

When I first
saw the trailer for this
movie I thought it was
good to be another awful horror film, but the twist led by the characters played by Bradley Whitford and Richard Jenkins makes this one of the most inventive horror films I've
seen in a
while.
While she's the reason to
see this
movie, the plot is also
well - done, and is a more positive piece than most of the films in this genre.
One thing I will say about this
movie is that is quite possibly one of the emotional films that I've
seen in a
while, and one of those reasons is because of the music, the music in this
movie are brilliantly done and the film has little to none of it, but they know when to use it to the films advantage, and it works incredibly
well when it is used.
The other noticeable acting was from Ellen Page as his daughter Jenny... I think that most of the people who are aware of some of the benefits of the New Age touchy - feely approach will find this
movie pleasurable,
while others, more down - to - earth type of traditional believers could be very annoyed with suggestions that ecstasy could help you reach a balance in a relationship... Whatever group you are, the
good thing is that the opposite opinion is usually served and Lynn Shelton is not asking anyone to believe in anything they
see.

While I can understand why people do nt like Michael Cera, I thought he did very
well in the role and I was glad to
see him playing against type, since
movies like Youth In Revolt have shown that Cera is more than capable of playing characters other than the stereotypical nerdy, awkward guy.
If your kids are old enough to watch a film without constant supervision, you'd probably to
well to drop them off and check out another film in the cineplex
while its showing, as this is almost completely devoid of interest for anyone who has
seen more than five
movies in their lifetime.
Some of my favorite horror
movies are remakes, and
while the bad far outweigh the
good, there's no reason to dismiss a
movie before we've even
seen it.
And
while the
movie is extremely violent (without much blood), he does find clever ways to show violence, and even seems to be commenting on the cinematic pleasure of
seeing well - orchestrated, creative, gleefully over-the-top fights in films as a kind of catharsis.
If Burns were a complete unknown outside the margins of the industry and this were his directorial debut, maybe we could pat him on the head, tell him
good job, and stick Looking for Kitty on the refrigerator door, all the
while assuming that now that he's proven he can make a
movie and get it
seen, he'll move on to something he actually cares about.
What we are excited about: It's been a
while since we have had a straight - forward comedy in theaters, and this could provide some
good counter-programming to the
movies we have been
seeing lately.

OK, the not so
good stuff: I am beginning to despise 3 - D (it adds nothing,
while diminishing the brightness of colors); Jotunheim (land of the Frost Giants) is plain, gray and boring; Natalie Portman, fresh off an Oscar is just terrible as an astro - physicist with a teenager - style crush on Thor; Tom Hiddleston as Loki is one of the weakest villains I have ever
seen in a super - hero / comic book
movie; Rene Russo must not have read the script prior to accepting her role — she has about 3 lines and is totally wasted.
While it's true that nobody wants to
see Nicole Kidman pout her way through a brain - dead remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers or Jodie Foster turning vigilante, people will show up for
good movies about women who kill with bows, arrows and grit.
