saw an

For

students often reflect on the kind
of work they did as younger
students while they plan new projects, and parents can clearly
see ways in which their children have grown and how their knowledge on a topic has deepened.

Another charter leader noted that what has
worked in their context is to show parents and
students concrete
examples of what this «tomorrow» could look like: give families the opportunity to
see good schools in action.
Students then go through a second, more complicated,
worked example to practice what they have just learned and to
see how trade can still be beneficial when a country / economy has an absolute advantage in the production
of both goods.

For
example, Center X, at the University
of California at Los Angeles (
see «Two Programs That
Work,» in the sidebar below), requires its teacher - education
students to intern in Los Angeles - area schools with racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse low - income
student populations.
But, for
example, in Australia... when we look at the data we
see that the majority
of [school]
work being completed by
students relates to preparing documents and presentations.
I think for there to be long - standing change in American education that is widespread, rather than just on the margins, first
of all, people have to
see examples of places that are like their own places where the new kind
of education really
works, where
students are learning deeply, where they can exhibit their knowledge publicly, and where everybody who looks at the kids says, «That's the kind
of kids I want to have.»
For
example you might
see one moment teachers and
students working together to explore a compelling question, teachers really guiding the process quite carefully, showing the
students how to go about the process
of investigation and research, building that understanding it over time.
They could be used in a variety
of ways, for
example: A revision tool: using the boxes provided,
students tick or comment when / how they hear each
of the concepts and in which
of the pieces A companion to annotating the score: this allows
students to
see how a particular concept is used across the different set
works.
Examples of scored

see actual
work and the corresponding points earned on the
student example.
In each

The richest
examples of K - 12
students demonstrating digital citizenship skills were
seen in the
work samples and reflections
of elementary and secondary preservice teachers who taught social studies units.
The
student teaching supervisor also relied on the cooperating teacher to collect and send additional screenshots, a process that ensured the supervisor
saw a true representation
of the
student teacher's
work and not only the
student teacher's best
examples.
Teachers
saw the learning community as another
example of temporary professional development, and
students appeared confused by the opportunity to
work and interact with adults.
However, when
students see how math
works in real - life situations, they'll be more willing to stick with a problem (
see 6 Everyday
Examples of Math in the Real World).
For
example you can
see each
student's current
work, average growth, effort and accuracy scores, and predictions
of student outcomes based on their current progress.
Research shows that
student gains are most pronounced where teachers have greater longevity and
