U.S. society was unprepared: 62 percent of American adults get news on social media, and many people who
see fake news stories report that they believe them.
During the 2017 polls, 90 % of Kenyans had heard or
seen fake news stories related to the election, with a cross-section of the population using popular apps like WhatsApp and Facebook to spread misinformation.

Today's culture of «truthiness» and
fake news has resulted in a growing inability to
see anything as real, as true, as substantive enough to tell the whole
story.
When I first heard about the emails I figured they were
fake so I scanned Google
news to
see if any
news organizations had picked up the
story.
And then advertise or target them with blogs or websites or various — what everyone now calls
fake news — so that they start
seeing all of these ideas, or all of these
stories around them in their digital environment.

saw sense and realised he needed to put the interests of the ALP first, rather than his own, and had decided to make way for Tanya Plibersek to become Australia's second female prime minister, with Anthony Albanese to become Deputy PM, but again, all of that is yet to be imagined for future 1 April
stories to come.
