I still don't see how he is a super sub. He's labelled as a super sub just because of this season. Those matches when he scored he was supposed to be played because we needed an aerial presence.A lot of those matches had he started we could've won because we needed aerial presence. But the thing is that his abilities don't suit him as a super sub.I mean he holds up the ball well and is great in the air and that's just about it.He's actually the one one who needs service and who needs players around him to open up defences for him to receive the pass and not vice versa.Super subs actually provide they are not the one's to be provided for.In Giroud's case he was supposed to start in those in matches as Sanchez was not up to the task in aerial battles.Giroud will not be able to affect a match if the opponents are as good in the air.

I hate to make jokes, in light of our current dilemma, but this team is so screwed up if I don't laugh about it, the only plausible response is to either cry or do something incredibly destructive... just look around this squad and try to see what our delusional manager sees that allow him to make such positive statements about our current team

KickAss i thought he (AW) got it just right this time, we complain he plays players for too long when its unnecessary like Sanchez replacing Gibbs who dose a good job in that left position and a great defender to hold the lead, Coq is been eased slowly so he doesn't have a relapse of his injury, and Theo was to use up time, i don't see any thing wrong with this we did win comfortably
Right now Huntelaar is still better than Giroud in all departments, barring perhaps «hold up play», of which I see many other players in the league do better than Giroud.

Unlike many I'm not scared at all if he leaves. You know why?Because I've seen better players leave the club and seen where we ended up.He's very good and world class but not as good as many think.Forget stats for a moment and look at his quality.I also hope the mistake of keeping Mr. Hold up at the club would not be made. Here at Arsenal we compromise a lot and we always ignore the cracks until it's too late.Wait till Lacazette goes for a three or four month injury. Then we'll know we never learn.I hope Bellerin doesn't make this mistake of leaving Arsenal. He has so so much to learn. His game still lacks that something. He needs to know how to maximise his potentials and be consistent. That will only come with more playing time and patience.Arsene should not even think of letting him go as we will have to spend money on a RB and besides we need him.
Had it been walcot is stronger as giroud, so it wl suit him, bt still he is more hazardous nd dangerously lookng to the opponents wl upfront thn giroud, we wl be happy to see hm gettng more playing time so that he can be more aquinted to the position, hence goals wl be scored, bt for giroud let him to be a bck up to speedy theo nd need to be coming very late in the game 70th to 80th minutes after we score nd win, to help hold nd waste some minutes.Eventhough everyone has his own peculiar advntage.KWANKWASIYYA GUNNERS.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
this window has just finished i am already thinking about who we will get for the january window we might try for khedira on a really low offer as he is free agent almost would help boost numbers in midfield in the new year as we will no doubt need to filling the numbers about then also i will hold my hands up and say i was wrong this morning for giving wenger stick and saying welbeck is rubbish i have been out in the cold light of day and had a chance to reevaluate the situation and realized that this could be a canny shrew transfer on wenger behalf actually if wenger can turn the clock back and work his magic on welbeck and get him scoring goals and improve his game then we could have a great underrated signing on our hands its wengers absolute trust in him that might be what makes him a great player as this is something that he never had at old mordor if anybody can make him a world beater wenger can he loves this little pet projects improving players against the odds welbeck has the skillset to be high class player upfornt he just needs to work very hard on his finishing i think once he gets a few goals under his belt he will settle in fine and he is a team player you could put him on the left against man city to shore up that side and he will put in a great shift without a complaint that could be his biggest asset to us or on the right whenever we need him there ithinkwenger might start himon the left against city to protect the left back against navas and i bet you if he does a great job we will take a shine to him quickly i am hopeing he will be one of those wenger gems that he finds and polishes up to a high finish i must admit i was annoyed as some other gunners were at not signing d / m and c / h but if wenger does win the league with this lot it will be his greatest win yet and what might play in to our hands is the unpredictable nature of the league in the last few seasons if we get on a good run at the right time we might be hard to stop look at city they should have never lost to stoke but the result is there in black and white for all to see and i think chelsea will hit the skids after a while to just because cesc and costa are doing well now thats there main threat but teams will work out how to stop them as the season goes on and chelsea will become predictable i think we might just do well this season after all
I am starting to believe Holding should be our first choice back up since every time I have seen him play for us he looks more composed than Gabriel who is starting to look a bit panicky or an accident waiting to happen.
i think this could officially be the start of the end for wenger his blind arrogance has cause him to buy welbeck in the sheer belief that AGAINST THE ODDS HE CAN BEAT THE REST OF THE BIG 4 WITH ONE ARM BEHIND HIS BACK we should be buying top top top european c / l standard players not sunderland spuds everton standard players thats about welbecks standard of club in all truthful reality he is an honest hard working player but wenger thinks he can coach the mediocrity out of him he is truely insane its a guaranteed source of goals we need not more fancy hold up play and «pace» and missing chance after chance so the postman is to be joined by the manchester metro tram absolute disgrace he has kidded on ozil and sanchez they must be wondering what is going on atm they are seeing the true wenger now just panicking and not panicking very well to that effect and for some reason wenger has gone all kinky for english players for some strange reason at least chambers has great potential welbeck has past that stage and is a seasoned pro now and he is no where near what we need wenger is trying to show how great he is by whiping the back out of the same players week after week in the vain hope that he can win the league without rotating ever and they will get injured and he wont have learned his lesson and we will pay for it in the end best last day transfer would have been a 4 year contract for klopp
seriously i see something in that guy, his movement and pace is crazy, and he is a little bit taller than sanchez (they can both swap anyways during a match to confuse opponents), walcott just needs to improve on his finishing which i think has gotten better anyway, and his strength and hold up play.
Let's see how he holds up playing under Klopp.
Sometimes i think hes playing agaisnt himself, he tackles himself how many turns do you want to do man, and yer holding up play, ive seen this in a couple of perfomances.p lus he cant shoot for shit.
Realistically: Ospina Niles — Mustafi — Holding — Monreal Ramsey — Bielik Ox — Ozil / Iwobi — Reine - Adelaide Welbeck With most of our first team players having played 2 games in 2 days and 3 of them namely Perez, Koscielny and Coquelin having picked up a knock, i don't see Wenger risking to start the likes of Giroud or Sanchez.
Let's see how these other athletes hold up after playing even 45 minutes of football.
would love to see Morata in an asrenal shirt but really cant see the need for a player like Lukaku, to my mind he; s no better than Giroud who I think has great hold up play but pretty much is NOT the 30 goal a season striker we really need why get in another like for like player?
I do not think Giroud is worried as yet, it comes down to who gets more play time, although the style of football may be moving away from hold up, back to pacey forwards base on what we have seen of the team so far.
Great pass from Sanchez and decent hold up play from Sanogo was nice to see for the second goal.
even when he suffered a serious knee injury, instead of accepting the fact that he would never stick his legs into the spaces that were crucial for someone with straight ahead speed to succeed, the club actually contemplated giving him a chance to play up top where his lack of physicality, size and holding up play talents would been on display for all to see... these are not the actions of a club that really cares about winning at the highest levels, but they are the actions of a club that wasn't interested in spending the necessary resources to purchases a world - class striker, which is usually the most expensive position on the pitch... instead we adopted the horrible phrase «like a new signing» and proceeded to allow this ridiculous experiment to carry on, which ultimately caused some discomfort on the training pitch and inside the locker room as players battled for a position that shouldn't have been theirs for the taking in the first place... don't get me wrong, I believe that Walcott is a talented player, who can help a team reach their goals, if their goals are relatively modest... just look at the teams who supposedly expressed interest in his services and they weren't the kind of clubs who aspire to win at the highest levels... as for the reasons why he hasn't been bitching and moaning about moving on just look at the wage benefits he receives from our club and his obvious desire to enjoy the societal advantages that come with playing in North London for a club with worldwide appeal... so instead of continuing to try to fix a coat with a broken zipper simply move on and buy a new and better coat
Personally i dislike Olivier Giroud on account of the fact that the Deep Lying foward is a dead concept in the BPL, Often i see people write about how fantastic his hold up play is and his finishing is... i get it there is no denying it he is good at those things.
Theo and Sanchez on the wing and a tree in CF. I will do anything not to see» hold up play» Giroud turning us to a one dimension team.
His strength and hold up play can play a big role in seeing the game out.
I'll like to see Mertesacker or Holding replace Mustafi for our remaining games, not that it'll matter anyway Welbeck should be dropped or go back to the wings Alexis to be played in the number 10 role or up front Ramsey to see out the rest of the season on the bench
I am not a hold up play junkie and last match I didn't see him do any thing to make me jump out of the seat and he is three years into the season as arsenal main striker, that is joke of the century.
Flamini is a great player & we're lucky to have him as back up (now 1st choice) I guess in the defensive holding man marking box to box blah blah... he's a workhorse & can play in this position with ease, having Ramsey alongside is a nice combination & yes let's see in may when he has not only the bpl medal but the cl medal too... Coyg
Southampton up next in league and I would like to see eleny or chambers used in midfield to overcome wanyama and co we no saints will press and Harrass so we have to be clever and bypass midfield occasionally use giroud get him to hold up and start playing from their third.
Wenger's coaching is at fault, we have fast players but I can even see that Welbeck looks more comfortable playing for England, where he is allowed to use his speed and size, than Arsenal, where Wenger want's him to be a «hold up striker» whatever the fryer tuck that is...
It would be nice if Ramsey and Wilshere can build up a «psycic» connection between them, it could be a way to play without a dedicated holding CM for large parts of games, Wilshere is doing the job for England and we all seen how Ramsey can tackle when in form so together they could do a wonderful job bossing the CM.
Both Giroud and Walcot are useless, but Giroud is better... You will never see walcot involved in d team build up play nor see him hold the ball up under pressure from the opponent... he cant hold d ball, he has cost us so many goals when being dispossessed easily....
