Marketing a
book is a marathon rather than a sprint and this week, I submitted the
book to Irish
book retailers and distributors to
see if it might be accepted to go on
sale nationwide (
more waiting!)
In theory, we might
see more long - term
sales on the poorer selling
books as readers work their way through a catalog.
I hope that before long we'll
see more businesses enabling the quick, easy
sale of licences that increase access to
book content, and earn publishers revenue beyond the narrow confines of the mainstream ebook marketplace.
One attendee commented that she felt she needed additional categories for her
books and called Amazon about it; they,
seeing the
sales potential of her listing in even
more categories, granted her request.
As you receive positive reviews, new customers will start to

While many have predicted that print and / or digital have
seen their glory days already, the
sales figures from Lulu appear to prove that one version's
sales actually stimulate the growth of the other and that the
more successful authors are the ones whose
books are available in both formats.

Something that we are consistently
seeing is that the self published reader is much
more inclined to show interest in an author with multiple
books for
sale, especially if a brand around a central character, or group of characters, has been created.
My two other
books have
seen more sales than before and while it doesn't sound like much, 100
sales in a month kinda quadruples the first year of
sales with just one
book out!
When browsers
see a
book with an eye - catching image and a benefit - driven
sales letter, they'll be
more inclined to purchase it.
And you can't
see your
sales until nine months or
more after your
book is published.
I now have started to giveaway a couple of short stories — one at a time — and I'll be interested to
see if doing this encourages
more sales of my
books.
The higher up the
book lands on the search engine results pages («SERPs»)-- aka the higher the search engine or Amazon «ranking» — the
more potential readers will
see and «discover» the
book, and the
more possible
sales the
book will have.
But at some point one must consider the wisdom of making one's
books exclusive to Amazon for 90 days to
see an 80 % bump in
sales that will last a week, at best, then settle back to
more organic levels.
Every author should take full advantage of the free service because it allows you to update content on your
book page, keep author bio information up to date,
see your
sales data, and
more.
I personally don't find it so — it ensures that a title at $ 14.99 will
see three times the visibility my title at $ 4.99 will
see, even if the
sale price of the
book is
more like $ 9.99 or $ 7.99.
Launching a
book promotion campaign is a sound investment... or, at least, it is a wonderful opportunity for authors who can

Actually, SFReader is quite correct... In every case where it has been used, DRM has been shown to decrease

book's stats picked up drastically in direct correlation with the timing of the Facebook ad, and I
saw more than double the
sales today than in any 24 hour period throughout the
book's 8 month history.
So, when I
saw that my one and only
book's full - price
sales had
more than quadrupled from the norm last Friday (10/28), I naturally hoped it was due to clear actions that I could analyze and perpetually maintain with consistent results.

sale of a Kindle, for example, but the average Kindle owner buys something like 15
books a year, and there is high profit for Amazon in downloading a data file with a retail price of $ 10 or
more.Convince me there is another solution which makes sound * business sense * — not what you think a user would want to
see, but a solution which would otherwise justify Amazon bringing to market a device which by itself would generate nothing
more than a tiny profit to a small loss for each device sold.

We've all heard the big blockbuster
sales of a precious few who have
seen sales of
more than a million
books, but who can really relate to that?
I've spent anywhere from $ 5 to $ 20 to promote a post when I have a new
book release and I always
see an uptick in the ebook
sales, and
more page likes.
With 14 % Kindle ownership amongst
book buyers we are
seeing huge changes — 9 % of total
book sales are ebook
sales, Publishers are in crisis mode, eReader companies are becoming hugely important, everyone is trying to get into
books, lots
more people are reading.
From the example above, you can now
see how SEO can benefit authors in order to sell
more books and the potential there is to really fuel your
book sales and author platform.
There are legitimate reasons for this, and attempts by publishers to price e-books at or near print prices have alienated potential customers and probably hurt
sales — I know I have passed on a
book more than once when I
saw that the Kindle edition was priced higher than print.
I
see about 10:1
sales of ebooks to paperback, and I don't do ANY reformatting or cover changes... Whatever else you want to say, Amazon has given us a world of new authors to try, and I'm staying under the $ 5 price point to hopefully entice
more buyers to try my
books.
