Recently, I
saw pulled string
painting done at
Inspiration Laboratories, and she has great instructions to do it [with photos] that I followed [I did her Method -LSB-...]
They sought
inspiration in the era's art, specifically the work of the photo - realists, who
painted photographs in a style that is both hyperreal and at one remove from reality — evoked by the variety of reflecting surfaces
seen in the film — and the op artists, who deployed contrasting visual elements to create vibrating surface tensions on a single plane.

Sites, subjects, and methods of observation are critical to each artist's visual language: planted fields, elevations

inspirations for the
paintings shown here.
He also found
inspiration in the Pennsylvania Academy, where he could
see one of the first independent American landscape
paintings, by Thomas Doughty.
One clearly
sees the references to 1950s abstract formal language, as in Franz Kline's

PS: As an installation artist who finds both
inspiration from the history of abstract
painting and interior design what do you
see as the similarities of these worlds?
One might
see Neel's bright, stylized
paintings of her friends, fellow artists and family members as the
inspiration for the current Hockney exhibition, as well as a number of young up - and - comers (
see: Jemima Kirke, Hope Gangloff).
Fergus Hare can without a doubt be
seen in a tradition of Great British landscape
painting, bringing the genre into the 21st century while referencing and drawing
inspiration from the past and future.
In her artistry she has found
inspiration from Baroque masters like Bernini and Rubens, which can be
seen in the drama and dynamics of the
paintings, in their texture and nerve.
Painting provided comfort for West whose life was riddled with sadness and loss, and she hoped that her
paintings would be an

seen the tension between the
painting as representation and the
painting as object so influential to the New York Abstract Expressionists who took

Audience You mentioned Whistler and
inspirations on the colours and Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper but I
see a lot of Gerhard Richter in here, which is why I asked that question because he does work on a larger scale, almost
painting the photograph, makes the
painting look like a photograph, and so it was just a comment but I
see a lot of him... Being an American I don't really
see Edward Hopper, but I
see a lot of Richter especially this one (referring to the
painting «Help» in this show) that you want to finish again.

I'm still toying with the idea of
painting our fireplace (or regrouting it) as a low budget improvement or a first step makeover (

saw this picture that I had saved in my «house
