Haan's Reef on Gili Air is fast becoming renowned for excellent «muck diving» where divers can
see rare critters like frogfish, pink — leafed scorpion fish, flying gunard, mantis shrimp, nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses, robust ghost
pipefish, blue ringed octopus and ringed
pipefish.
The wall is covered with both soft and hard corals and you may
see barracudas, angelfish, butterfly fish, lionfish, Hawk fish, nudibranch, pygmy seahorses, ghost
pipefish and if your lucks in maybe a Whale Shark.
And here are few names of the creatures you might find here in the Gilis: A large variety of Mantis shrimps, different kinds of Pipefishes including the Ornate and Robust ghost
pipefish, frogfish, a very large variety of shrimps and crabs and if you're lucky you might
see the boxer crab or the well sought harlequin shrimp, the famous seahorses and the Pygmy seahorses, normal Scorpionfishes, leaf scorpionfishes and even the rare Rhinopia which has found itself a home on our dive site called «Turtle Heaven».
You will spend most of the time in and around a series of rocky patches where you are also likely to
see cuttlefish, ribbon eels, cockatoo leaf fish and various
pipefish.
We've
seen anything from ornate ghost
pipefish, flamboyant cuttlefish and painted frogfish to bobtail squids and flabellina nudiebranch.
However at night a different world comes to live, a world where you will
see Spanish dancers, the school of huge Bumphead parrotfish in their sleeping cocoons, Flashlight fish, Bobtail squid, sea moths, ghost
pipefish, cuttlefish, starry night octopus, mimic octopus and different kinds of nudibranchs!
As well as hundreds of strange and wonderful tiny critters, you can
see flamboyant gobies and cuttlefish, jawfish, the more unusual leaffish, grey frogfish and ghost
pipefish, hawkfish, crocodilefish and of course, many colourful mandarinfish which give this site its name.
Schools of manta rays, reef sharks and wobbegongs may grab the limelight, but the real beauty lies in the variety of colourful smaller creatures that you can
see, such as nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs and other crustaceans,
pipefish and seahorses.
You can
see everything from nudis, to
pipefish, pygmy and regular seahorses to eagle rays and turtles.
In the bay at slope sandy bottom is good place to
see unusual animals, like Shrimps, Ghost
pipefish, Dragonet fish, Sand Diver fish, Gobies, Devil scorpion and others.
Macro lovers will not be disappointed with the chance to
see an array of nudibranch, shrimp,
pipefish and other tiny oddities.
On Froggy Lair dive spot you can often
see the rare ornate ghost
pipefish.
We
saw white - spotted puffers, lion fish, bearded scorpionfish, octopus, pyjama slug, mantis shrimp, moses sole, lots of
pipefish and a lot more!
For «big fish» aficionados, whale sharks, manta rays, leopard sharks and other pelagics are a major draw whilst macro-life such as seahorse, frogfish, ghost
pipefish and an array of nudibranch and crustaceans can all be
seen amongst the reefs.
That was not all, as (juvenile) Broadclub Cuttlefish, Signal Gobies, Orangutan Crab, Coleman Shrimp and the seldom
seen Whiskered
Pipefish were also spotted.
We
saw crenoid shrimp, nudibranch, ornate
pipefish, denise pygmy sea horse.

It is one of the best places to
see the Pontoh's pygmy seahorse, as well as a myriad of nudibranch, frogfish, scorpionfish, blennies, gobies,
pipefish, crab and shrimp.

seen octopus, cuttlefish, very friendly blue gropers, red Indian fish,
pipefish, and loads of other amazing creatures.
