Add the lemon juice, mix well and transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish (
see recipe notes).
(If you don't have a freezer full of cranberries left over from overly ambitious Thanksgiving plans and / or don't feel like zesting an orange, you can make the compote with just an apple —

It should only be slightly softened, definitely not too soft, you can always chill the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes if the butter is too soft (
