At a time when we
see significant numbers of
students with disabilities in NYC unable to meet curricular expectations, it is not surprising that the data continues to show considerable delays and deficits in
special education evaluations, IEP meetings, and delivery of services.
Experts working across the CCR landscape

special education gap, the Common Core, high stakes testing — I've
seen children get the short end of the stick daily in many school districts wealthy or not, though it is far worse for urban
students.
We do not
see servicing the needs of
special education students as a burden, but as a necessity.
