I first
saw Stockwell's work at the Genovese Sullivan
Gallery in Boston — two solo shows, I think — and though his imagery has evolved, those circles and their undulating patterns
remain a signature of his work.

galleries several years back good old Waldemar Januszczak described it as a schizophrenic display, but it
remained compelling simply because it was interesting to
see how a poorly thought out idea affects the flow and meaning of a

Gallery at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond on March 30, 2018.

galleries despite a more subdued atmosphere this year.
