Insidious, The Conjuring) and Leigh Whannell.

Insidious, and his
sequel (co-written with
Saw scribe Leigh Whannel) picks up where the first film left off.
That led to 2013

Saw sequels increasingly curdled into nastiness and convoluted plotting as tortured as their victims.
