seen pumpkin puree in cans, but I made some with no problem).

here, I can certainly say that the revised version sure is simpler.
Here in the US I have not
seen this as an
ingredient on a chocolate bar before so I did not even think to read the label first.

True, the recipe is for multiple pork steaks and the
ingredients for the BBQ sauce are for four pork steaks, but I BBQ'd this for myself, so while you will only
see one pork steak on the BBQ, the recipe is for four and you can apply the method to three more than the one I make

ingredients with the recipe from the book... I'm pretty sure you can just leave the gums out altogether... most GF pancake recipes do... with or without flax.
