In my practice, I often
see women on the pill struggling with migraines, weight gain, and deficiencies in B vitamins (including B12 and folic acid) and zinc.

One also
sees this in
women who are pregnant,
on oral contraceptive
pills or estrogen replacement therapy and in folic acid deficient individuals.
I've
seen too many
women destroyed by the birth control
pill, suffering every month with PMS symptoms, struggling to get pregnant and spending thousands of dollars
on IVF treatment only to have it fail.
Typically
women aged 30 will be put
on oral birth control
pills for hormone regulation, as you know, however, I haven't
seen it for libido.
Women with PCOS, when they come off of the
pill are much more prone to something called hypothalamic amenorrhea — you can
see if you have this by looking at your LH and FSH hormones and if they are
on the low end, this is likely what is going
on.
We are
seeing that the daughters of the
women who are
on the
pill are having a lot of trouble now, they're the daughters of the baby boomers who are in their 30s.
(After a cocktail of
pills and bourbon, she
sees a «Colonial
woman»
on the wing.
In fact,
women on the
pill report less attraction to their partners as well as less sexual satisfaction compared to naturally cycling
women.2 This is not to say that
women on the
pill are necessarily having «bad» sex, as several media outlets have erroneously reported (
see here or here for incorrect characterizations of this research).
