Fresh lemon zest and a few generous splashes of lemon juice add that bright tart lemony note while the poppy
seeds add a little texture to each sweet little cushion!
I love how chia
seeds add a little texture and substance to the winning combo of strawberries and rhubarb.
Not exact matches
For a
little extra
texture, flavour and protein, a bit of toasted soy flour and a hot «cereal» mix of quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat and chia
seeds were
added to the basic flour / yeast mixture, followed by extra crunch and sweetness from granola.
So I
added 2/3 c. shredded unsweetened coconut and 1/3 c. hemp
seeds (going for
texture and a
little extra fat) and used just a
little less flour.
To give them a
little extra flavor and
texture, I have
added the zest of a lemon and some crunchy poppy
seeds.
And finally, since
texture is of the utmost importance, a healthy dose of crunch is
added via a lightly sweet and nutty stovetop granola, studded with velvety macadamia nuts and toasty
little black sesame
seeds.
The pumpkin
seeds also
add a
little crunch, giving
texture variation and a super satisfying bite.
The wholesome 8 Grain Mix
adds «nuttiness» thanks to the sunflower
seeds and flaxseeds, while the tiny
little whole grains provide AMAZING
texture, flavor, and nutrition (it provides another 12 grams of fiber and 18 grams of protein to this loaf).
I
added about 1/2 t. cinnamon and 1/4 c. flax
seed meal to see if it
adds a
little texture and fiber.
This part it totally optional, but I love
adding whole sesame
seeds to the spring rolls to give it a
little more
texture and they also just look bomb af!
1 tablespoon of ground flax
seeds soaked in 3 tablespoons of water can also replace 1 egg and just a
little bit of the gums can
add an extra binding element that mimics gluten,
adding a stronger «bite
texture» to baked goods.
I also
added baby spinach, toasted pecans, and pomegranate
seeds to
add a
little extra color,
texture, and nutrients....
For this version, the coriander
seeds provide
little pops of flavor throughout the cake and I don't mind their
texture, but if you're not keen on the whole
seeds in your cake,
add a teaspoon of ground coriander to the batter instead.
The
little mustard
seeds add a fun popping
texture that can't be missed.
The barley
adds a great
texture, while the pumpkin
seeds contribute a lovely crunch, and of course what «specialty» salad is complete without a
little goat cheese?
Kiwis have a fresh, tart flavor, and their
little seeds add a crunchy
texture that's distinct from any other fruit.
To thicken these oats up a bit, I used ground chia
seeds instead of whole (which
adds a better
texture, in my opinion), a touch of coconut flour to thicken it up and
add a cake - like
texture (almond meal would also work), a
little bit of vanilla, a dash of cinnamon, some NuNaturals pure stevia (without any fillers — just stevia), and finally, creamy non-dairy unsweetened almond milk.
The quinoa (which by the way is technically a
seed not a grain)
adds a nice
texture and provides additional nutritional benefits like fiber, potassium, phosphorous and a
little choline (6).
