This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
this window has just finished i am already thinking about who we will get for the january window we might try for khedira on a really low offer as he is free agent almost would help boost numbers in midfield in the new year as we will no doubt need to filling the numbers about then also i will hold my hands up and say i was wrong this morning for giving wenger stick and saying welbeck is rubbish i have been out in the cold light of day and had a chance to reevaluate the situation and realized that this could be a canny shrew transfer on wenger behalf actually if wenger can turn the clock back and work his magic on welbeck and get him scoring goals and improve his game then we could have a great underrated signing on our hands its wengers absolute trust in him that might be what makes him a great player as this is something that he never had at old mordor if anybody can make him a world beater wenger can he loves this little pet projects improving players against the odds welbeck has the skillset to be high class player upfornt he just needs to work very hard on his finishing i think once he gets a few goals under his belt he will settle in fine and he is a team player you could put him on the left against man city to shore up that side and he will put in a great shift without a complaint that could be his biggest asset to us or on the right whenever we need him there ithinkwenger might start himon the left against city to protect the left back against navas and i bet you if he does a great job we will take a shine to him quickly i am hopeing he will be one of those wenger gems that he finds and polishes up to a high finish i must admit i was annoyed as some other gunners were at not signing d / m and c / h but if wenger does win the league with this lot it will be his greatest win yet and what might play in to our hands is the unpredictable nature of the league in the last few seasons if we get on a good run at the right time we might be hard to stop look at city they should have never lost to stoke but the result is there in black and white for all to see and i think chelsea will hit the skids after a while to just because cesc and costa are doing well now thats there main threat but teams will work out how to stop them as the season goes on and chelsea will become predictable i think we might just do well this season after all
We have seen Carl Jenkinson return already, and today Wenger gave us some good news on Giroud, Ramsey and as for Welbeck, Le Prof said: «He's ahead of schedule and he'll be back in January.

Laca may not be 100 % as of yet, but he looked ready to give his all at the weekend, and I will be so happy to see him back in the line - up, especially in the place of Danny Welbeck whose finishing could do with some work.
The only dumb situation i noticed was, when i saw the counter attack we made when Sanchez started with the ball, passing it to Welbeck, with the intention of him running with it to pass it back to him, but the funny part was that Welbeck had the same intention so we wasted a perfect counter.
The instances above may well see a system change brought in to accommodate those above, and Welbeck may well find himself being used as a back - up striker to favoured pairing PEA and Lacazette, although that partnership may be questionable given the duos strengths, especially if Olivier Giroud is demanded as part of the deal to sign the Gabon international from Borussia Dortmund.
I see now GIROUD, WELBECK our strikers back playing defense, covering our own posts for every corner when they should be at least one of them in the front ready for a counterattack.
I'll like to see Mertesacker or Holding replace Mustafi for our remaining games, not that it'll matter anyway Welbeck should be dropped or go back to the wings Alexis to be played in the number 10 role or up front Ramsey to see out the rest of the season on the bench
With all Arsenal's injury problems last season, Ozil often had to do without the likes of Walcott and Ramsey running into those key areas but if he does now get his place in the centre back for Arsenal, he is likely to have not only those two, but Alexis and Welbeck to work with and then we really might start to see the best of Ozil.
I can remember as a child my father taking my to see Stoke City who always out sang the away teams and the passion flowed through to their players, what's happend to Arsenal, what was the quote from Roy Keane Our club is in a downfall last nights Ossian average Gibbs - plays like a winger bel - looked out of his depth Mert NOT GOOD ENOUGH Kos can't play both Cb on his own Le coq found wanting in possession Welbeck 4th choice Utd plays ever week for us, says it all Sanchez poor last night tries to do too much Santii - felt sorry for him, tried, kept getting pulled back and no movement in front of him Ozil 1/2 things either he doesn't suit the premier or doesn't suit wenger approach GIroud not good enough no where near stevie wonder could see that And finally wenger 10 years ago ahead of his time, now NO PASSION, NO TACTICS, NO FEAR FACTOR, = no job
licence coach but you don't need that to see what wrong, we have arguably the strongest midfield In the country and a decent back 4 but the way we play doesn't get the best out of our players, I would play a front 3 of Sanchez welbeck and either chaimbo / Campbell Ozil / corzola / Ramsey just behind then Arteta and chambers as DM but when you play ozil or corzola wide we lose pace and cover for the fullback we have to many players who play No 10
We scratch our heads wondering what is wrong, with a pretty good team, and why in the important games we fail, well i.e our right and left back are frequently caught out of position, because they are to far in the front and at times forget that they are defenders, on the other hand our attackers are too busy defending, it's been a while since Welbeck scored for us, but you will see him every game standing right by Ospina or supporting the defense instead of being forward as he should be, to use his speed in effective counter attacks, same with GIROUD for an attacker he is a great defender, how many missed opportunities because he is 1 yard behind running back from his defensive position in our half.
There are some players that need to have big seasons this year - Oxlade Chamberlain, Wilshere, Ramsey, Welbeck... Unfortunately I don't really see a place for Theo he done well towards end of last year but unless Wenger is thinking of using him as a back up striker to our No 1 striker there are better options on the flanks.
we can win the league without Sanchez and with a net spend of 75million (or in my opinion keep Sanchez and spend 135 net but have him added to one of the strongest squads ive ever seen) the possibility of 3 -5-2, 3 -4-1-2, 4 -4-2, 4 -3-3, 1 Cech 2 Bellerin 3 Mustafi 4 Kos (C) 5 Van Djik (60 Million) 6 Kolasinac 7 Xhaka 8 Ramsey 9 Ozil 10 Lacazette 11 Mbappe (110million) 12 Martinez 13 Holding 14 Monreal 15 Ox 16 Goretzka (30million) 17 Lemar (45million) 18 Welbeck 19 Butland (25million but loan straight back to Stoke)
We have no idea if Kosc will be ready to play at the weekend, so I will not try and pick a back four, but I can see Alexis taking the left role, and Iwobi on the right, with Theo Walcott chosen to lead the line in the absence of both Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.
Arsenal were looking in danger of being eliminated from the Europa League by CSKA Moscow on Thursday night, until Mohamed Elneny popped up to give Danny Welbeck the chance to put us back in the game, and in most peoples eyes the Egyptian was our best midfielder on the pitch that evening seeing as he also fed Aaron Ramsey for our equaliser as well.
However, even if Welbeck is fit to start, I would not be surprised to see Wenger bring Giroud back into the starting XI anyway, especially as United look like having to field a mish mash of academy players and midfielders in theur back four.
I hope wenger sees these and benches ozil when he doesn't deliver to have a taste of Wilshere, but never wenger, he prefers his best on the pitch than giving willing and passionate players chances, the likes of Campbell, Gabriel, Gibbs instead of easy monreal, Perez shud av played more last season e.t.c, I hope to say xhaka, Ramsey, Wilshere in front of them, Sanchez / Perez if Sanchez goes, lacazette / welbeck upfront, giroud as sub, Gabriel along side koscielny and kolasinic, bellerin and gibbs / monreal as full backs, I want szesny back as back up to cech and Martinez as understudy.................. but I won't get it cos it is wenger......... smh
offtopic against city we must pay attention to city right side of the field were zabaleta and nasri will combine, we must use a left winger that can track back and support monreal, then starting with ozil, cazorla or wilshire as left midfielders will see us get exposed down the left, i would go for chamberleine or welbeck to play that role especially that welbeck was playing that role in the world cup and with united
I can guarantee u that welbeck will be back on feb we hve seen this alot of times i sense that we are not gona get a stirker this market.welbeck will be back on dec but he would hve missed a year of football, which will make hime miss till feb this is a ploy to not buy a striker.
