In reality this mechanism is the first step of a cascade of successive bifurcations through which the multiplicity of
behaviors may increase dramatically, culminating in many cases in a state in which the system properties change in time (and frequently in space as well) in a
seemingly erratic fashion, not any longer because of external disturbances or random fluctuations as before but, rather, as a result of deterministic laws of purely intrinsic origin.
