Hey Lori, the beadboard is paintable only, not for staining (if that's your question), but real beadboard panels can be stained, and I've
seen beadboard painted all sorts of colors, it doesn't have to be white!
I've never
seen beadboard wallpaper before.
Also, you can see we made the ends of the island (under the counter) have a different look than the end of other cabinets in the room (
see the beadboard ends a few photos down.)

I will also have
beadboard halfway up as
seen in the image on the left!
The only thing I would have done differently was to add
beadboard to the ends of exposed cabinets, but what's the likelihood that both big - box lumber stores
saw was broken the day I was needing the boards cut — oh well, it doesn't look too bad!

see the back lined with chippy
beadboard and glass shelves (adjustables).

seen lots of bathrooms with wood or
beadboard but they seem to be guest baths so aren't used daily.

i would like to
see you add some
beadboard to the front side of the island so that people sitting on the barstools will not kick and ruin the front of the island!
I also chose to run
beadboard wallpaper on the «kick...» of my island and add my faux cabinet feet to the front (as you can
see in the finished photograph).

saw some photos of bathrooms with
BEADBOARD TILE... whoa... felt my heart start beating faster:) It's on my «dream list» now!
First, here's your supply list: primer * for walls;
beadboard wallpaper, chair rail trim, sponge, measuring tape, bucket, level, scissors, roller, brad nails and hammer (or brad nailer), paint color of choice, miter
saw for chair rail trim.

beadboard wallpaper for awhile for my laundry room, and am even more excited about the idea after
seeing your post.
I'm a huge fan of
beadboard wallpaper as well, but I've never
seen it used on a piano.
I thought that I would have to spend thousands on upgrades to make it fresh and pretty but then I
saw your post on
beadboard wallpaper and decided to try it.
See the good thing about this method is, if you were using real
beadboard it would really stick out from the cabinets pretty far and you'd have to get some bigger trim to trim it out and hide the edges.

Some things I just noticed even though I've
seen the spaces before were the planked ceilings in one room and the
beadboard ceilings in another!
