Ideally, he'd have seen more of the ball as he looked impressive in possession.

My brother and I stared out the backseat windows as an enormous ball of orange fire rose boastfully over the horizon and Interstate 10 spilled us onto a freeway congested by more cars than we'd ever seen.
But it was a much more resilient and organised peformance from the Gunners than we have seen in the two previous away gamesd this season, and it paid off as the home team were frustrated as they struggled to make much headway or even enjoy more of the ball.
In the past, I envisioned this team post-Big Three as this running - and - gunning dynamo with Rondo at the point of attack, but the more I see this team flourish in the half court, the more I fall in love with the ball movement and finding the open guy.
In the midfield, (including RWB & LWB) we have a whole bunch of tweeners... none offer the full package, none make sense in our manager's current favourite formation, except for Sead on the left and Ox on the right, and all of them have never shown any consistency for more than a heartbeat... Sead, who I'm including in this category because of our present formation, looks like a positive addition, minus his occasional brain farts, but I would rather see what he could do in a back 4 before making my mind up... Ox, who has never played better, which isn't saying much considering his largely underwhelming play in previous seasons, seems to have found a home in this new formation; unfortunately, can we really expect this oft - injured player to handle the taxing duties that come with said position over the long haul, not to mention, it looks like he has no intention of staying... Ramsey has relied on the empathy that stems from his gruesome injury years ago and the excitement that was generated a few years back when he finally seemed to put in altogether, but on the whole he has been a big disappointment (neither he nor the Ox have scored enough to warrant a regular spot)... Wiltshire should be put on a weekly contract then played until he suffers his first injury, if and when that occurs he should be shipped - out and no one should very be allowed to say his name on club grounds ever again... Elnehy & Coq are average players who couldn't make any of the top 7 teams currently in the EPL... both have showed some great energy on the pitch, but neither are top quality and no good team can afford to have that many average players on their bench playing the same position, especially with Coq's injury history / discipline concerns and Elheny's headless chicken tendencies... as for Xhaka, his tenure here so far has been incredibly underwhelming... we know he has some skills to provide the long ball but his defensive work is piss poor and he gives the ball away too cheaply and far too often... finally, the enigma himself, Ozil, so much skill with his left foot but his presence has been more frustrating than uplifting... in many respects his failure has been directly related to the failure of this club to provide him with the necessary players up front, minus Sanchez of course, and unless something drastic happens very soon his legacy will be largely a negative one (much like Wenger's)
We're more likely to see Mourinho's standard XI as he'll try to press high to rob us of te ball in high areas or Fabregas moving to no. 10 to put Ramires alongside Matic to hinder the counter attack
I've seen Ozil play the ball to Theos feet but Theo had started the run, Theo doesn't like balls into his feet as he is a runner... yet at Real he played balls in behind more often due to having a consistency of pace to work with and get use to.
While both those players are frustrating, I find Ramsey to be the worse as I feel his best moments of his playing career was in those few months alongside Arteta and he was looking like a contender for POTY already then got injured, that period of time seen Ramsey put in more tackles per game than Arteta (on average I think it was 4.4), he was doing the defending and then taking the ball forward in attacks.
Santi and Le Coq should have an easier game as we should see a lot more of the ball.
I said experiment because I am not sure how their chemistry would work out on the pitch as we do not see them everyday in training... for example I am not sure if Neny can play the defensive role as effectively as Coq, but since Coq is not performing at the level we usually expect of him anyway, I would pun for Neny there for now... Based on what I have seen so far, I would say Neny defensive game would be based on covering and interceptions rather than going in strongly for tackles like Coq but the plus is he runs and covers more ground than Flamini, and his movement and ball distribution is definitely better than both Flamini and Coq.
He pointed out that we had too many defensive midfielders wanting to bomb forward and leaving space behind for potential counter attack, and if you read between the lines and use it as a source of info for analysis, you can clearly see he is implying we need to be stronger in the midfield by not losing ball possession, pressing more when we don't have the ball and not let ourselves exposed.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
Although I've found it very cathartic to speak, vent and end occasionally rant about all things Arsenal, we need to act carefully and intelligently right now or we're going to get played by this club even worse than at present... the pro-Wengerites and the suits, who represent a considerable proportion of the season ticket holders, don't want to believe that there is no plan and that Wenger has mailed it in for several years now or that things are going to get much worse before they get better... why would they... many have spent a considerable sum buying some of the highest priced tickets in the World... they want to have a front row seat to see something special and to be seen doing so, which simply provides ample justification for the expense and the time invested... to many of them, Wenger is the sun in their soccer universe... his awkward disposition, misplaced arrogance and his utter lack of balls makes him a rather unusual cult figure, but the cerebral narrative seemed to embolden those who already felt pretty highly of themselves... many might not even of really liked football that much before his arrival and rarely games they weren't attending... as such, they desperately believe that Wenger, and only Wenger, can supply them with their required fix... if he goes, they were wrong and that's a tough pill to swallow... they would have to admit that they were duped... they will definitely resent whoever made them feel this way, but of course it will be too late by then... so when we go overboard with ridiculous comments bordering of anarchy, it scares the shit out of them and they shift their blame towards us rather than at those who really perpetrated this act of treason... we aren't the enemy... we simply woke much earlier and the reason our comments have gotten more vile in recent years is out of utter frustration... in order for any real change to occur at this club we need to bring as many supporters as possible with us or the big money interests will fade and our ultimate objective will be lost... so it's time to focus on the head instead of the heart for now
I still don't understand people's obsession with boxing players in to a specific role... The whole «true DM» is a dying breed, even Coquelin is arguably something else considering the advanced positions he takes up often in front of Santi and takes major risks in winning the ball back for us... IMO, the reason Coquelin has had such a successful integration into the first team is that he focussed incredibly hard on the basics of his role first and foremost before adding other elements to his game (long - balls, driving runs into space, more aggressive ball movement in general) it's not rocket science to tell a player to curb the attacking side of their game and focus primarily on defence before attack... Nor is it that hard to see that playing in a midfield pairing with either Ramsey or Cazorla is going to be different as well.
I see him as a right wing version of Alexis, very quick, good on the ball, an incredible work rate and able to come inside and play more centrally if / when required.
I really don't know if we saw the same match, i admit Ramsey is blessed with infinite energy, as a matter of fact he can chase the ball for more than 2 hours....
Yes we have improved we have become more aware we have started to show some maturity when facing the top dogs and that's the difference between us this season and us getting SMASHED by all of the top teams last season and if you watch football you can see that the city side are not a patch on their former selves nor Liverpool nor even chelski, we are NOT another 49 unbeaten squad not yet and not for a while until the improvements are made, Yea credit where its due of course but lets NOT RUN AWAY WITH THE IDEA WE ARE WORLD BEATERS JUST YET EH, AKB's are the reason we'll never improve as a fan base because they can see NO wrong in anything the board or AW does, Im no AOB but I do see the need for self criticism and improvement and at BIGGUN its not a ridiculous statement at all we have improved but they have also been off the ball and that why we're having a good run.
I want to see dominating CM at AFC in a 3421 formation, if those 2 CM can act as a shield and do 90 % of the defending then we can press high and win the ball back in dangerous areas more often which Laca would thrive on.
I don't think his job is to initiate attack, he's main job is to win the ball back and play a simple pass to our more offensive players, and he is not bad in possession as d stat and u re suggest, and I don't see any tactical reason behind carzola being backward order than ramsey being injured, nobody initiate our attack better than ramsey and dats d work of a box to box midfielder and not the defensive midfielder.
@akin I think Wenger should stick with gab n koscielny coz they had a bad day due to poor performance from arteta and d full backs.they'll both b more comfortable with coq Caz n rams, and then bells n Monreal.my concern, which is that of all of us is converting our chances.do u know who I actualy think can rescue us?RAMSEY!yea as odd as it sounds its rams who can get into those positions on his days n put d ball @d back of d net.Alexis lion should also find it good if Chelsea uses azpillicueta in place of ivanovic.I see us beating chelsea
Though they weren't seeing as much of the ball, Chile's attacks remained threatening, and they carved out two more presentable chances before halftime.
That young man Nelson, WOW, an outstanding game, my advise to arsenal is to sign a new contract with him as soon as possible, so calm on the ball, full of energy and at several points was dictating the play, really interesting must see more of him.
I don't even know why he started Welbeck ahead of Walcott in the first place, Welbeck was giving away the ball too often on the right and wasn't helping Bellerin in defence.Bellerin too can't be blameless for being caught out of position many times, he didn't even know who he was marking. The reason why we lost the midfield battle wasn't because Coquelin didn't do much, the problem was with Ramsey and Cazorla, they were loosing possesion too often in our own half giving more room for counter attack Coquelin alone couldn't contain opponent's pressure for the full 90minutes he needed help too defencively from Ramsey who didn't give him any, Ramsey now sees himself as an AM who could go forward at anytime and ignore his defensive responsibility.Koscielny didn't do much to prevent the second goal.
Although it's nice to have competition, an attacking minded manager like Wenger will prefer to buy someone better on the ball for games like home game against Sunderland and Swansea when they put 11 men behind the ball As it is Wenger who decide, I can see we have higher chance of getting Scheiderlein / Vidal more than Wanayama / Kondogbia
With Michu's main strength being running onto a through pass played by one of Swansea's more gifted ball players such as Britton or de Guzman there may be no better opponent to play against than Arsenal with their main problem in defence as seen at White Hart Lane last week is keeping a stable and aware defensive line once they have pushed up further out of their own half.
I can be frustrating at times because I write what I want and I wanted to highlight that 1) the game isn't just about pace and desire as Wenger says 2) that the media needs to stand up to these managers because it infantilizes us fans and robs us of seeing games more tactically and 3) because Arsenal are a deeply flawed team, managed by a guy who used to be knows for fluid passing and movement, but which has recently dried up to the point that Arsenal can't even pass the ball around the worst defensive team in the League (Stoke).
His greater value is in his positioning though: he's good at making himself available for a pass from the defenders (which is particularly useful with Holgate, who is brave on the ball but also has a tendency to play the first pass he sees, so having Schneiderlin as a simple option makes it less likely he gives it away cheaply) although more useful at distracting opposition players, moving wider to drag them away from the middle and opening up passing lanes for the defenders to pass into the feet of Rooney and Sigurdsson, or playing one - twos with Gueye so the Senegalese has space on the ball and can turn, face play and stride forward without immediate pressure.

It may only be pre-season, but Can's lovely slide - rule through ball to Raheem Sterling prior to the forward's disallowed goal in New York was excellent vision and execution — more of this may be required as the season goes on but Can has clearly demonstrated that he has this kind of pass in his locker, it's just that more of it needs to be seen.
This is really a big matter that tricked all Arsenal fans including myself whether these two lads are relieble or not.To me Rosicky's injury wasnt so terifying except the fact that he needed a long 18 months to recover, anyway i still beleive he can still do what he used to do, i prefer him more than Nasri as he is more faster and he's got a good striking force when he hits the ball, to sum it up, he used to be one of my favorite, Lets see whats gonna happen!!!! As for Dudu, the terifying action of the injury cant still get out of my mind, it seems like it was my own leg, so thats why im always fearfullas he is more faster and he's got a good striking force when he hits the ball, to sum it up, he used to be one of my favorite, Lets see whats gonna happen!!!! And when you do look at those goals — as I have, on my tactical breakdowns, which you can find on the site — you can see why Liverpool have dropped points, and more often than not it's because of some individual error you can not account for, such as Lovren missing the ball, Matip leaving a header, Karius not positioning himself well enough, a midfielder not tracking his man properly, or the team of officials being useless in enforcing the laws of the game.
Walcott is fast and will be the best in the world if he continiously works on the way he handles the ball, as well as Nasri who on the other hand do nt really have a speedy run but very compact on the way he moves on the pitch and fast enough when he dribbles. But for the two lads to be compared with Rosicky, Pires, Hleb and bergkamp is still a bit of a question.Arshavin is one of these players who plays like Rosicky or Hleb but has got lil bit more quality such as: more goal minded, more agressive, and more intelligent. We really need Arshavin, not only to get trophies but to get our beautifull play back in the game again.Cant wait to see Walcott and especially Fab back again.I beleive many Fans out there are dreamin to see this line up = Sagna - Gallas - Djourou - Clichy Toure Walcott - Fab — Rosicky Arsha Ade
Occasionally isolated when used as lone strikers, both López and Gignac appear to relish seeing more of the ball and both men are particularly adept at cutting inside and shooting at goal with their stronger right feet.
I don't see players that don't care just a team very low on confidence, I thought they kept huffing and puffing the result is horrible but as Moyes said it shouldn't have been a 4 0 game its individual mistakes that are killing us, he has to find players that won't make them or alternatively go big in the transfer market and buy them, we need a ball winning central midfielder, Everton had Gueye and Davies and they killed us in midfield, where against Leicester we were hungry against Everton we just never got out of the blocks in the first half, in the second half we created a lot of good opportunities we should have scored more goals the penalty, Cresswell was very unlucky and we created three clear opportunities where the ball was cut back to far, Moyes should have started Sakho.
And, as much as I would like to see the N.F.L. do even more on concussion safety, it isn't completely up to the league, or the National Hockey League, or any single organization, of course, to carry the ball on safety.
Until you see the pain in your husbands eyes as he holds your child and watches you break because you can't handle being on the end of another bottle refused or bounce on a yoga ball in a dark room for one more second.
In IR, National Interest is traditionally linked with what has been labeled by scholars as a billiard ball approach to foreign policy, in which the nation - state is defined and treated as a unitary actor, more important than the «cobweb» of national and transnational connections that others see to be important to an understanding of foreign policy.
Krueger said her selection of Wagner has more to do with him and less to do with her desire to oust Ball, although as the Senate most conservative - voting member, he's not exactly the sort of person with whom Krueger sees eye - to - eye.

Though I still think the Academy dropped the ball in some areas (Best Actress, in particular, could have been a far richer and more diverse race had the likes of Sally Hawkins and Kristin Scott Thomas been invited), it's true that, while 2008 hasn't been as rewarding for auteur works as some previous years, we've seen a lot of films either wholly constructed around their performances («The Wrestler» being a prime example) or saved by them (for my money, Anne Hathaway and Rosemarie DeWitt are the most focused elements of «Rachel Getting Married»).
We should not be surprised, then, if this weekend sees both the Los Angeles and New York groups throwing their weight behind «The Social Network» — already cast, despite the patronage of a beleaguered middlebrow institution like the National Board of Review, as the cooler, more credible alternative to «The King's Speech» — in a concerted effort to keep the ball in its court.
And when the issue involves anti-trust violations and price fixing, it can seem like it's not enough for the government to slap you on the wrist, if damages in the ball park of $ 266 million to $ 500 million can be seen as a little... [Read more...]
It's always possible that we'll be seeing the ball roll faster with RIM as we had a lot of exciting announcements come our way including BlackBerry Messenger opening up to developers, WebWorks, free app submission to App World, and of course advertising service to push out more free apps.
We would all love to see more instances where teams try and attack and have to play the ball backwards as the defensive AI performs a stellar job of blocking the channels and covering players.
She said she and her family love their green shaggy rug, so as you can see from my photo drawing, I suggested bringing in a little more green in the form of decorative, moss - covered balls, accessories on a narrow, dark wood, wall ledge - and stripes in some of the throw pillows.
