On Spring Break this week, I've been invited down to DC for a
day or two where, besides staying in a swanky Jetson - style hotel, I'm looking forward to visiting a few galleries at Logan Circle and stopping by the National Gallery of Art to
see the permanent Mel Bochner installation and the Philip Guston show.

see the world from her viewpoint, I find inspiration in the mundane and overlooked; a washing line blowing wildly
on the first
day of
spring, an unknown couple
on a park bench, a door ajar giving just a glimpse of what lies within...»

saw hundreds of flowers inexplicably floating downstream.
The picture above was a poster
seen across the city last

day.»
People used to talk about
spring, the coming summer, going for nice walks in the fresh air, getting out for a bike ride, calling family
on the phone, having coffee with friends,
seeing the sunset
on a beautiful
day, watching the waves by the lake, walking around downtown, going for a streetcar ride just for fun, having breakfast at a wonderful old diner right at dawn by the window, watching a ball game,
seeing the first robin, walking in the rain.
The inspiration began when I
saw some beautiful ferns
on my morning walk one
day and knew I wanted to incorporate them somehow into this years
spring decor.
