The award - winning artist, who teaches courses in painting and drawing at MICA, University of Maryland, and Towson University, has an interesting story to tell about the way she looks at the world and selects the scenes depicted in her paintings.

The exhibition, drawing from Dower's career of over 40 years, and presenting recent paintings hung in counterpoint to selected historic works, including a selection of intricate reliefs that have not been exhibited since exhibitions at the Curwen Gallery, would have been an invitation to reflect on the connections between works from the eighties up to the present day.

The exhibition includes more than 125 paintings, drawings, watercolors, and sculptures by O'Keeffe as well as selected examples of Alfred Stieglitz's famous photographic portrait series of O'Keeffe.

Organized by Dena M. Woodall, associate curator of prints and drawings, and curatorial assistant Lauren Rosenblum, the exhibition features 20th - century prints from the permanent collection selected by artists known for their work in other disciplines — specifically sculpture, photography, painting, installation, and dance.

This publication introduces and presents the work of a global cast of painters selected by an international panel featuring some of the most prominent names in contemporary art (including the painter Cecily Brown, curators Tony Godfrey, Yuko Hasegawa and Gregor Muir, and writer - critics Suzanne Hudson, Barry Schwabsky and Philip Tinari) offering an intelligent snapshot of the best new talent in painting from across the world, gathered through an open call for submission that drew over 4,300 entries.

Fontana's «Crocifisso», 1948 modeled in clay and painted in a lush polychrome glaze could have been paired with de Kooning's crucifixion drawings or his strikingly similar bronze works to which Suzanne Hudson refers in her text, however, we selected a body of painting on paper which, Hudson notes with interest, immediately follows de Kooning's brief five - year encounter with sculpture and «preserve the sensation and bodily impressions of pliant clay.»

The exhibition concentrates on Kim's recent works — engaging collection of paintings and selected drawings created in Paris from 1989 to 1993.

When selecting two - dimensional work, Wilson identified «paintings, prints and drawings that had a winter theme or responded well to the beautiful grounds of the site.»

Continuing from his successful recent exhibitions at Halcyon Gallery, Diary of an Artist (2011 - 2012) and Shaman (2014), the museum has selected a wide range of Pedro Paricio's paintings, drawings and collages.

The selected abstract paintings in the North Gallery are drawn from his Morphic series of biomorphic and organic forms, and his Del Mar series, featuring a more linear style, suggesting striations or waterways.

The group exhibition features selected paintings, drawings, sculpture, collage and assemblage by artists Josh Blackwell, Sharon Butler, Jonathan Callan, Eric Dever, Stacy Fisher, Brian Gaman, Jim Lee, Lauren Luloff, Stefana McClure, Linda Miller, Bonnie Rychlak, Mathias Schmeid, Tim Spelios, Ryan Steadman, Ryan Wallace, Ross Watts and Letha Wilson.

All emerging artists that are selected to participate in this year's show will be eligible to be nominated for the Best Emerging Artist Awards in three categories: Mixed Media, Painting / Drawing and Photography.

Paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and mixed - media works are up for bid, with estimates for most of the 157 lots averaging $ 1,000 - $ 7,000 and select offerings ranging up to five and six figures.

Artists selected for this program are at all stages in their careers and work in all media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, dance, music, interdisciplinary, social practice, and architecture.

There are scores of other recent examples of secret art — shows of paintings by Wade Guyton and Stephen Prina that appear suddenly, announced to only a select group, each year for a single day at Friedrich Petzel Gallery (most recently in March); a two - person show last summer at the Untitled gallery with a rear wall that, when pushed, swiveled and, like a James Bond - style hidden - door bookcase, opened onto a prodigious group show; the recent obsession over Kraftwerk's über - secret studio in Germany in advance of the group's MoMA retrospective; the hidden rooms and trap doors in Swedish artist Klara Lidén's shows (there's one in her current New Museum retrospective); and a drawing by David Hammons at MoMA that was covered with a cloth and unveiled only a few minutes a week by appointment at select times.

Rockport Publications selected her work for their 1996 «Best of Oil Painting» and 1997 «Floral Impressions, A Collection of Drawing and Painting Ideas for Artists».

These recipients were selected through a blind process out of nearly 300 applicants by three jurors: Jeff Andersen, Director of the Florence Griswold Museum; Jason Andrew, Curator and Archivist for the Estate of Jack Tworkov and Founding Director of Norte Maar for Collaborative Projects in the Arts; and Honour Mack, Professor of Painting and Drawing at Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine.

The exhibition features paintings by 17 artists based nationally and internationally selected from an open call that drew hundreds of submissions from around the world, according to the gallery.

The emphasis on painting will be complemented by selected works from drawing, photography and sculpture.

In this respect, the selected vessels from Nguyen's installation link well with a number of paintings, prints and drawings in the fine art collection at Touchstones Rochdale, which depict landscapes, gardens and the natural environment.
