Yesterday (February 28), the market stalled, which reinforced
the sell signal generated by our stock market timing model on February 25.
Not exact matches
Although the timing model is on a
sell signal we are simply one «follow through - day» away from
generating a buy
signal.
However, in three of the last four times that our market timing strategy
generated a «
sell»
signal (April 2012, May 2012, and October 2012), it was followed by a broad - based correction of 5 to 10 % below the highs (review details of the three most recent

One week later, on October 12, the necessary
signals were
generated for a new «
sell»

generated, my timing model was already in «neutral» mode since the close of January 24.

sell signal is
generated and the market immediately rolls over, but other stock market timing
sell signals lead to an initial short - term bounce before the market moves substantially lower.
Given the bearish action described above, our market timing strategy
generated a
sell signal on the close of October 12, 2012.
After a decent rally in early 2012, the distribution days began piling up in late April and early May, forcing us out of several long positions by May 3 and
generating a 100 %
sell signal on the close of May 4 (as annotated on the chart above).
The goal of our approach is not to time or forecast the market, nor to
generate «buy
signals» and «
sell signals», nor to catch bottoms or tops.
So, as the market gets slammed today, our subscribers are obviously happy that all long positions were closed before the heavy
selling began, and that our our market timing model
generated signals that simultaneously enabled subscribers to begin taking short exposure as well (through two inverse ETFs).
