Like any retailer, Amazon wants to
sell books so it is in their best interest to help readers find them.
From my perspective, if your goal is to
sell books so that you can entertain, enlighten, educate, or inform (or reform!)
As a reader, I already don't like many things about Amazon... namely the fact that I can't «rent» a book for 99 cents instead of buying it for $ 9.99, and the fact that «ownership» of an e-book does not come with the traditional rights of ownership (i.e. to give /
sell the book so someone else when you are finished).
Remember, this is where you are beginning to
sell the book so make the description interesting.
On our top
selling book so far this month, NovelRank shows us selling 11, where Amazon only shows us selling 8.
Lesson learned: You're not
selling your book so much as you are selling yourself.
Perhaps you have a series where each book leaves the reader clamoring for more and you want to give it to them ASAP, or perhaps you're looking to
sell the books yourself so your author / professional brand carries farther than just a presentation or conversation.
I'm not going to
sell you books so you can take some percentage of sales.
You are trying to
sell them a book so they will want a taste of your writing prowess before they commit.
You want to
sell books so that you can write books.
