selling electronic books on the Internet, a federal judge ruled that the company conspired with five major publishers to raise e-book prices.

What the publishing CEOs were discussing was the issue of how Amazon was
selling electronic books for its Kindle book reader, which they called the «$ 9.99 problem.»
I will, as I have said before, talk about some ideas on
selling electronic books to independent bookstores, and maybe even into other stores.

The big difference, of course, is that many of the
electronic books are
sold, at least by Amazon, for less than the printed
book, and many, many readers would argue, as it should be.
As I have been saying here over and over and over, most
electronic books sold through most major ebook retail outlets are
sold by traditional publishers in the price range of $ 7.99 to $ 15.99.
A report recently released says that Amazon accounts for over 90 % of all

electronic books on Amazon.
The readers won't buy expensive
electronic books, so the feedback loop in traditional publishing is that
electronic books don't
sell well.
Electronic shelf space is practically infinite, so writers can put their
books out and go write the next one without having to worry about
selling to the satisfaction of some corporate bean - counter.
