As a result, Amazon would seem to have less room for error than Apple, and while it has plenty of high - margin products to
sell in the form of accessories, the rumored mix of Kindle devices and physical
books doesn't seem incredibly enticing, especially when prices for
Kindles are so low (that's the stuff you don't mind buying online) and only going lower.

You say that Amazon makes the most money and that everyone is trying to imitate them, but that is ambiguous, isn't true that they hardly make any money or even lose money
selling their
kindles and
books?

sell Kindles for essentially no profit, the new Kindle customer is in our store where they can browse and discover
books, the new Kindle customer can then check the price on Amazon and order the ebook.
Accusations of bullying and the exercise of market power are flying against both parties: Amazon has market power as a leading
book retailer, and they are bullying Macmillan by removing their print products to keep retail ebook prices low and

sold Kindles in all of December leading up to their biggest sales record.
That said, I would be surprised if they supported epub because 1) they aren't really inclined to make it easier to use other ebook formats, since they
sell kindles to get people to buy
books from them in
kindle format and 2) mobi is only really supported because the
kindle format is based off it.

books sell but I wonder whether the top 100 list on
kindle distorts our view on what is really
selling in the marketplace overall.
