I had
fault codes stored, but that was due to several
sensors that I didn't use with the swap.

codes to see if there are any
faults with the fuel delivery, o2
sensors, air flow etc..
See if you can get hold of Merc - specific diagnostic software and hook it up to your vehicle to see what
fault codes and
sensor readings the ECU is seeing.
If the fuel injected into the cylinder isn't burned it passes into the exhaust system where the O2
sensor sees a rich condition that is outside the normal parameters and sets a
fault code.
Standard
codes, basically if a VW has a failed
sensor, and a Honda has a failed
sensor, they must use the same
code to describe the
fault, more on that later.
