Over the last few months, I've been working through my closet and finally clearing out the items that I'm weirdly
sentimental about (do you
get this way about certain

Jewelry lasts a lifetime and
gets passed down from generation to generation, so there's often a deep
sentimental value attached to each
piece — making it the perfect splurge for someone truly special in your life.
Last month I did a huge closet clean out and pretty much
got rid of everything I haven't worn in the past year or two (with the exception of a few
pieces with
sentimental value that I just couldn't bring myself to give up).
You must love
getting to decorate with
pieces that have such
sentimental history.
If I sold anything of
sentimental value, I would want to make sure I
got the most out of it and then I would buy another timeless
piece I love in its place!
They now
get fragrance items (i've been buyin on ebay lately because things are so expensive and I am not
getting bonuses very often at work), maybe a
piece of jewelry if I can afford it, a framed picture, something for their bulletin board / room, sometimes neat pens / pencils / paper pads and art supplies, DVDs, games, little scrapbook things that I make for them, and we try to give them one of the little treasure items that belonged to either my husband's parents or my grandparents (handing them down something that has
sentimental value - sometimes it's an odd thing like a slide rule for my son, a crocheted doily for my daughter, etc...).
I've mentioned I have three children, but have I mentioned that one is
getting ready to head to college next year?!? I love these
sentimental pieces because they are something to look back on while also being functional for your property.
