The study involved 25
research institutions and 1726 alcoholics who were randomly assigned to 12 weekly
sessions of one
of three types
of individual psychotherapy: cognitive - behavioral therapy (which seeks to teach new ways
of thinking), motivational therapy (in which the patient is encouraged to take responsibility for his own recovery), and a spiritually oriented therapy derived from the philosophy
of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).
The
sessions — one for graduate students and recent PhDs, and two for undergraduate students — aimed to invigorate the
research careers
of minority mathematicians and mathematics faculty at minority - serving
institutions.
Throughout the day, breakout
sessions allowed delegates from various
institutions, companies and associations to map out a plan
of action that includes all areas
of education and how they can, in the words
of Professor Brian Hudson from the World Education
Research Association, «work relentlessly for the sake
of all learners».
This begins with one
of the four thematic streams
of the conference, and also includes spotlight
sessions where local
research institutions present their exciting projects and ideas.
It serves its purpose
of creating an ecosystem where tech and legal professionals work together by providing support to the legaltech entrepreneurs to make their projects come true, promoting open innovation in law firms and
institutions, organizing training
sessions and workshops to foster tech and law skills, and
researching and evangilazing on the benefits
of legal innovation among companies, citizens and
institutions.
