book cover, and developing a budget and schedule.
There are also
books on living a writer's life while maintaining your sanity, or
setting goals for yourself, or how to
market your work once it's published.
So you need to do one of two things; either pull out your wallet and pay a publicist a substantial sum, or you learn basic
marketing principles and
set down some
goals and strategies that will get your

When you
set reasonable and realistic
goals for your
book marketing, you'll be more likely to reach them.
Just like
setting daily writing
goals, a time line allows you to break down the big and complicated task of
marketing your
book into smaller, achievable individual
goals.
If you aren't
marketing your
book actively, interacting with readers,
book bloggers,
book reviewers, have no email
marketing in place, haven't built up your social media, aren't blogging, haven't optimized your posts and website, have no online presence, haven't established your personal brand, pay for zero advertising... you get the gist —
set low sales
goals.
But as I
set goals for 2014, I'm going to try a few different things with both of my
