Republican leaders in the state Senate did not respond to requests for comment on Hoylman's bill, but on Wednesday they defeated an effort by Senate Democrats to force a vote on
several gun control measures including a bump stock ban.
The president is set to meet with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday to
finalize several gun control measures that he's expected to announce soon, according to The Washington Post.
While Florida lawmakers passed a bill Wednesday night that includes
several gun control measures, a grand jury earlier in the day indicted ex-student Nikolas Cruz on 17 counts of murder.
