I self - publish, so I do pretty much everything myself; but I've heard
several traditionally published
indie authors say they were surprised to find out that even with a traditional publisher, they were expected to do a lot of the marketing for their own books, particularly if the publisher is
small, since they were * not * a celebrity name that could sell itself.
