Spironucleous salmonicida is an emerging fish pathogen commonly found in the intestinal tract of salmon that often causes
severe systemic infections with gross pathological symptoms and high mortality rates.
As the intestines begin to rot, the gut may leak or even rupture, causing
a severe systemic infection.
A severe systemic infection often leads to low blood pressure through a complex series of physiologic events.
