sexual identity categories using queer theory.
As Jenell Williams Paris of Messiah College writes in her book The End of Sexual Identity, «Grounding sexual ethics in our humanity more than in contemporary
sexual identity categories... comes at a cost to heterosexuals,» because «it puts them in the game as players instead of umpires.»

categories were fundamental and fixed; as though they too were gifts to be accepted and valued without question.
