It seems
like every season they have black and
charcoal gray, and then a third more «casual» color (right now it's a light gray pinstripe, a couple months ago it was some
shade of brown, methinks).
You could of course go for any colour combination, but a helpful formula would be to: * start with a neutral colour: black, navy,
charcoal, brown * add either second neutral, or a slightly more muted / mainstream colour
like purple, any kind of red, turquoise or a
shade of blue that isn't navy * finish off with a bright, bouncy colour
like yellow or orange or even just a bright
shade of red
Smoky eyes are everywhere for fall, and the look has never been fresher because they are being done in every
shade from classic
charcoal to soft browns, and even vibrant
shades like plum or teal.
And by that I mean, wearing similar
shades over each other — whether that's mixing taupe, cream and camel (
like I did in the chunky - knit sweater below), or
charcoal, black and olive green (
like I did in the cardigan).
The
charcoal pencil saves time on
shading but you could use a soft graphite pencil (
like an 8B) with a long nib so you can
shade with the side of it.

like your exterior texture with the stone / brick material but agree with you to change it's color.How would
charcoal or slate grey, green
shades and your door all look?
I didn't want it to be too dark
like some of the
charcoal colors I had, or too light with some of the lighter
shades of gray that I have.

I
like to mix it with
shades of alabaster white, and it looks especially sharp with
charcoal grey.
