Most of «gay pride» is just a rebellion against a lifetime of
shame and guilt forced upon the gay person since childhood.

The horrible thing is... the rejection of homosexuality is what
forces the gay person into
shame and guilt... which results in suppression of their natural feelings... which results in unhealthy, sinful expressions of those feelings.
We have these ideas about «good»
and «bad» foods -
and we let
guilt and shame force us towards the wrong foods, because we think that's what healthy means (reality check: If you're training for a marathon, your «healthy» is going to look a lot different than mine
and the mom who's working to get her pre-baby body back!)
The human condition in all its pathos, misery
and beauty — youth
and maturity, love, loss
and lust, intimacy,
shame,
guilt, grief, crisis
and death — is the driving
force of her art, which is tantamount to a visible manifestation of different existential states.
Consider it completely (
and suspiciously) out of character for them if they try to cajole, persuade,
shame,
force or
guilt you into giving money.
I even walked 3 km to dinner with a friend the other night (forgot my glasses, got horribly lost
and sweaty, but finally stumbled in), then walked home again (being old
and full of wine, was
forced to make an impromptu wee stop in a park on the way... oh the
guilt, the
shame, the relief!).
