shark feeding dives at Pacific Harbour and one or two other
areas we recommend, we advise that our guests leave this administrative and not - too - pretty main island to seek out the best diving at the islands elsewhere.
The larger pelagic's including Whale
Sharks and Manta Rays are making their annual appearances during this time, to
feed on the rich plankton blooms which make this incredibly bio-diverse
area so full of life.
And just a short speedboat journey away are some of the Maldives» most famous marine sites — among them Hanifaru Bay, famed as a phenomenal
feeding area for manta rays and whale
sharks in certain seasons.

sharks is such a popular attraction, only licensed tour operators can bring divers to the

sharks are no longer
fed here (or in principle they should not be), however they still frequent the
area.
The expanded protected
area, which is likely to include both fully protected and low impact fishing zones, will encourage the sustainable management of fisheries resources and protect the scalloped hammerhead
shark and the leatherback turtle, two threatened species that concentrate and
feed in the new
area, and two key «flagship» species for the Eastern Tropical Pacific.
