I have followed Arsenal since 71 and did at one stage believe Wenger was the best manager I have witnessed, this was based on results and the style of football, the signings,
the sheer quality of the football.

The great thing about
football is there are so many leagues and teams and
quality available, if your team is in the crapper at the moment (as Arsenal seems to be) you can still take joy in watching the
sheer artistry
of say Real vs. Barca even as a neutral or supporting a team in another league or rooting for your league teams against the European giants.
He has a tendency to overhype deals he is involved in but that's less because he wants to big himself up and more because he is a HUGE
football fan and sees the
sheer quality of these players, though not necessarily in context.
While it is uncertain whether Chelsea will sell to a direct rival and whether Costa will be willing to sacrifice Champions League
football, the
sheer quality of the player should be enough to warrant at least an inquiry from Arsenal.
Team this with the dwarfing average attendances, youth dependency, the «50 + 1 rule» (which consists
of members having to own at least 51 %
of a club so that a single entity can not take control), clubs paying less than 50 %
of their revenue on player wages and the
sheer attraction
of football quality to the fans, and it is clear to see why the Germans can breathe easily, creating a yearly turnover
of around $ 2bn with small annual losses now and again (two since 2003).
