Since 2005, members of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians have been working to develop a comprehensive assessment of
Shelter Medicine as a potential specialty, evaluating current training opportunities, developing an analysis of specialist - level knowledge requirements, and nurturing shelter medicine training across the country.
Upon graduation she completed two year long specialized internship training programs, one in small animal medicine and surgery at the ASPCA Animal Hospital in NYC and one in
shelter medicine as the recipient of the Petring Grant at the North Shore Animal League America.
Students will also be exposed to our intake protocols, behavior assessments and modification processes and adoption procedures to better understand
shelter medicine as a whole.
As a student enrolled in the 30 credit MS degree program, one will earn the Maddie's ® Online Graduate Certificate in
Shelter Medicine as well as have the option to earn 3 additional certificates:
