Our grant programs are designed to make homeless pets more adoptable by keeping them happy and healthy, to make
shelter operations more sustainable, and to aid adoption groups during times of natural or man - made disaster.

MONTREAL — HSI Canada and the Montreal SPCA applaud a decision by the City of Toronto to counter the cruel puppy and kitten mill industries by prohibiting the sale of commercially bred dogs and cats in pet stores, as
more than 500 seriously neglected dogs recover in an emergency
shelter following their historic rescue from a large scale commercial breeding
operation.

During the 2012 Michigan Humane Lobby Day,
more than 75 citizens from across Michigan met with lawmakers at the Capitol and urged them to pass legislation to ban the euthanasia of
shelter animals by gas chamber, increase protections for dogs at large scale breeding
operations, and to increase protections for consumers who purchase sick animals from pet stores and puppy mills.
Other students enjoy the opportunity to learn
more about
shelter operations and spend some of their time shadowing other departments.

Shelter will pay any remaining expense for the
operation, keeping in mind that the
more each client pays, the
more people we can help.
In total, people brought with them
more than $ 2,000 worth food and supplies, much needed for the continuation of
operation for the
shelter.
And it's by adopting being aggressive with our adoption policies and programs that KC Pet Project has been able to
more than triple the number of adoptions since taking over
shelter operations, and allowed us to increase the percentage of animals saved from 38 % in 2008 to 94 % in 2015.
But larger
operations need
more shelter space, and managing many small
shelters is time consuming.
HHI estimates that
more than 5,000 families will be provided means for
shelter during the first six months of
operation; another 20,000 families should receive assistance during the following 18 months.
