Teachers were familiar with the alphabetic method, in which learning to read was synonymous with learning the letters
of the alphabet; the word method, in which
children learned
short whole words (as in the Dick and Jane readers); and the phonetic method, in which
children learned to read by sounding out the letters and combinations
of letters that form words.

Why is it that these clueless know - it - alls who are pushing (as in drug pushers) all digital / all the time wifi «learning» haven't the slightest concern for what may be the
short - term and long - term adverse physical, emotional, and social consequences for America's
children, and particularly for America's most vulnerable
children — those living in extreme poverty, those with the
whole panoply
of neurological / cognitive / sensory disorders, and those from non-English speaking families.
Existing SNHV trials show relatively modest effects (effect sizes
of 0.2 — 0.4 SDs) for outcomes such as
child mental health and behaviour, and cognitive and language development, from infancy to mid - childhood.19 While effect sizes
of 0.25 — 0.3 SDs can be meaningful and impactful at the
whole of population level, 59 targeted public health interventions such as SNHV include a cost and intensity such that larger effects in the
short - to - medium term might be necessary to justify implementation at a population level.
The future James House is considering several possible future growth points: an emergency care service (already several
children, and even a
whole family has been offered respite accommodation and care on a
short - term basis); a foster - care level
of service for
children no longer needing the intensive programme; more access to the activities programme for those in the wider community who may benefit from it, bringing them into the ambit
of James House and thus offering some early intervention service; more parent training and other information giving in the community, contributing to prevention.
I knew basics
of it just through personal experience but I was really happy to see it be more
of a broader thing across all childcare centres and for something for the community and you know as a
whole for everyone to be able to be educated about its importance and how important it is for
children because I think in the past
children have never been looked as far as their mental wellbeing and the impact that has on them not just you know
short term but definitely long term as well.
