The world's largest open submission contemporary art show will be continuing the tradition of showcasing work by both emerging and established artists in all media including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, architecture and film.

This Friday, May 22nd, 2015, Park Life Gallery in San Francisco will present Jug Life: New Contemporary Still Life, a group show curated by Andrew Schoultz and Patrick Martinez featuring the work of close to 70 artists including:

[28] Formerly part of the University of East London, the East London gallery showed work by contemporary artists, among them university staff and practice - based doctoral researchers.

Though Tuttle's work is now canonical, it was met with fierce criticism early in his career: the artist's 1975 solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art was received terribly by many prominent critics, most famously by Hilton Kramer of the New York Times, and curator Marcia Tucker — who went on to found the New Museum of Contemporary Art later that year — was fired from the museum, allegedly because of the controversy surrounding the show.

Because if he does include contemporary artists in that equation, I can think of a number of MFAH and Menil Collection contemporary group shows that have integrated work by Houston and Texas artists — as if it were real art!

The first solo show in the UK of the Iranian - American artist at Sophia Contemporary Gallery in London features nine new wall sculptures, all made by materials that the artist has been meticulously collecting throughout the years — all involving steel, fiberglass mesh, and chains.
