A few groups pursued the study of possible mechanisms, for example elaborating theories of how changes in the atmosphere's electric circuit, which varies with the flux of cosmic rays, affected precipitation in the Arctic, Ram et al. (2009),

effect of parenting support programmes delivered to immigrant parents.24 The few studies available have mostly

or experienced alienation and discrimination all contribute to low participation.28 31 Other studies have demonstrated that low participation and a high dropout rate of immigrant parents are associated with a lack of cultural sensitivity in the intervention, poor information about the parenting programme and lack of trust towards professionals.24 A qualitative study conducted with Somali - born parents in Sweden
showed that Somali parents experienced many societal challenges in the new country and in their parenting behaviours.
These
effects were attributed to the impoverished environment of these settings since research had
shown that when conditions in the institutions are improved there is
little or no intellectual deficit in children reared in group care (Dennis, 1976; Skeels, 1966; Du Pan & Roth, 1955; Klackenberg, 1956; Tizard, Cooperman, Joseph & Tizard, 1972).
He cautions that many of the interventions have not been carefully evaluated and those that have been have
shown little effect on child maltreatment
or its risk factors.
As
shown in Table 2, there was
little evidence that the presence of domestic violence had an impact on treatment
effects for any other maternal
