Blackberry sued Facebook for patent infringement, saying the social network's messaging

Though Kobo's

app became available for Windows Phone 7.

shown off a new concept
app for its
BlackBerry PlayBook tablet that allows users to collaboratively share content with each other quickly and easily when in the boardroom.
Users who are not in your
BlackBerry Messenger contacts will not
show in the threaded SMS within
BlackBerry Messenger, only in the native SMS
app (standard on lower OS versions or threaded on OS 5.0).
This was originally just for
BlackBerry smartphones, then I noticed when accessing «My World» in
App World for
BlackBerry PlayBook, it
showed I could download it.
to me it seems the
blackberry hype is clearly over and repeating the worn out anthems of
blackberry being so professional while the rest is merely toyland won't help here, especially not in an article with focuses on emulating another platforms
apps on a system that obviously not enough developers
show interest in.

The guys from ARKick were at
BlackBerry Jam Asia 2013
showing off a distinctly different kind of
app than their augmented reality browser.
I found it interesting that Acer is the first to offer not one but two alternatives to the Android Gallery
app to display images, but one (Nemo Player) introduces even more artifacting, and the other (Acer's homegrown Photo Browser 3D)
shows better colors and slightly better sharpness, but still can't approach the crisp clarity of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 - inch, a RIM
BlackBerry PlayBook, or even the Apple iPad 2.

BlackBerry World now contains a whole collection of content for you to consume, with music and movies and TV
shows, and there's a Newsstand
app for reading magazines.
BlackBerry App World seemed to be a huge mystery on the
BlackBerry PlayBook as RIM never
showed it off at any events, and stopped folks from actually browsing through it in the past.
Apple takes the lead in first place here in the IHS Global Mobile Application Store Ranking, but it's nice to see
BlackBerry App World come in second place, still nowhere near touching upon Apple's numbers, but
showing success.
However, gaining access to Android
apps hasn't been easy for users, mainly because
app developers haven't
shown much interest in publishing their
apps on
BlackBerry's native
app store, and because the OS lacks direct access to Google's application store.
The folks over at BlackBerryEmpire managed to spot an image on the official
BlackBerry website
showing BBM on the PlayBook's
App World (the image has now been replaced).
While it
shows a screenshot of how BBM would look like with
BlackBerry Bridge, but the presence of an «Uninstall» button suggest that it is a native
app instead.
I was already invested in the
BlackBerry infrastructure and decided to
show support for the new device, while at the same time knowing that the ability to use Android
apps was a way of hedging my bet.

BlackBerry listed a host of popular
apps and games alongside the announcement, but a quick look around
BlackBerry World
shows that the company still has a ways to go — many top
apps are nowhere to be found and
BlackBerry 10 seems to be running into the same problem
BlackBerry's PlayBook suffered from, where most of the available
apps are just filler.
SemiAccurate (via CB) caught a demo at the
show of an
app a RIM employee developed that allows him to control his PlayBook game from what looks like a
BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphone.
A screenshot from the device also
shows it's running the forthcoming
BlackBerry 10.2 update which means you'll be able to side - load Android Jelly Bean
apps onto it.
The
app has a new update
showing in
BlackBerry World and although the change log is short, it has some overall improvements to make the
app experience better.
Getting into a bit more detail and giving us another look, RIM's blog has posted a followup video which again walks through the premise behind Android

As the image above illustrates, on the
BlackBerry App World developer portal the model numbers for the 9380 and 9790 are now both
showing up.
Pixelmags
showed the new
app off on the
BlackBerry Dev Alpha device, and noted that consumers can also pay one price and get access to all magazines in the newsstand.
At the
BlackBerry World keynote, RIM is currently giving its developer partners an unusually large portion of the spotlight to
show off the
apps they have built for
BlackBerry 10, some in as little as ten days.

shown it's willing to dip into other platforms if it thinks that will boost its market appeal - the arrival of Android
apps on the
BlackBerry PlayBook later this year will be evidence of that - but the company hasn't forgotten that enterprise users will want to securely manage their broadening ecosystem.

One bug — the
blackberry App world icon is missing, although the list of
apps show it's installed.
