INDIANAPOLIS — EdChoice, formerly the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice, today released a new
report that
shows savings of at least $ 1.7 billion from 10 tax -
credit scholarship programs operating
in seven states between 1997 and 2014.
The think tank earlier this fall released a
report showing low - income students who use Florida tax
credit scholarships are more likely to enroll
in college and obtain associate degrees.
The
report shows that students
in linked learning programs do as well, if not better, on test scores and complete more
credits than similarly - situated students
in traditional high schools.
The summary
report found a medium - to - large evidence base that
shows positive benefits of dual enrollment on college degree attainment, college access and enrollment, college
credit accumulation, completing high school, and general academic achievement
in high school.
The findings
in the newly released
report —
Credit for Proficiency —
show that the program created a positive recognition of the value of bilingualism and increased students» pride
in their own strengths.
For years, the institute has been laying the groundwork for radical changes to Missouri's education system, producing
reports, testimony, and policy papers purporting to
show the benefits of ending teacher tenure and enacting vouchers

credits,» along with other efforts to privatize education and undermine teachers» unions.
