Taylor De Cordoba is pleased to present the gallery's first annual Group Show, featuring a selection of work by nine artists, both local and national.

There he showed first museum exhibitions by young artists such as OlafurEliasson, Michel Majerus or Pawel Althamer, pushed forward the restoration of the historical building and reorganised the local annual exhibition into a format called «Regionale» that still presents an important, major exhibition located between Mulhouse, Freibug and Basel.

Organized for MOCA by Associate Curator Rebecca Morse, in collaboration with a curatorial team that includes Director Jeffrey Deitch, Director of Publications Lisa Gabrielle Mark, Curator Alma Ruiz, and Curator Bennett Simpson, the exhibition expands on a collection show originally conceived by Chief Curator Paul Schimmel, that considered the work of Los Angeles artists in a local context, following Collection: MOCA's First Thirty Years, which presented Los Angeles artists in an international context.

Artist - run space whose goal is to increase visibility of women artists in our local community and beyond by curating shows representing a vast array of media.

The show includes a selection of recently acquired works of contemporary photography, by international artists such Marine Hogunnier, along local ones such as Michal Heiman, Etty Schwarz and Yael Burstein.

With 90 exhibitions and several hundred artists showing work inside an urban area smaller than the perimeter of Berlin's ringbahn, there is a glut of shows — the best of which are of two kinds: selected solo shows by strong local galleries, and energetic collective and group shows by emerging artists.

Four of the highlights of Prospect.3 are the electrifying film, The Living Need Light, And the Dead Need Music by The Propeller Group (Phunam and Tuan Andrew Nguyen from Saigon, Matt Lucero from Los Angeles) with New Yorker Christopher Myers at the UNO St Claude Art Gallery; Silent Parade... or The Soul Rebel's Band vs Robert E Lee, a video by Peruvian - born William Cordova in which a local band serenades — or challenges — a statue of Robert E Lee from a rooftop shown at Dillard University; the exuberant, immersive two - channel video at the CACNO by David Zink Yi, another Peruvian artist, that explores Afro - Cuban music and culture, remixing the visual and the aural; and Kwaku Ananse (2013), a film by Akosua Adoma Owusu, an American of Ghanian descent, presented with the compelling simplicity of a fable in which a young woman returns home to attend her father's funeral, then goes into the wild in search of existential meaning.

OFRENDAS Five - to ten - foot altars made by local artists celebrate the Mexican Day of the Dead, in a show organized in collaboration with Detroit's Mexican consulate.

Curated by Leigh Robb, the unnerving explorations of incorporeal identities in the works of more than twenty local and international artists shown in Dead Ringer offer some insight into this «fatal» attraction.

Recent curatorial projects include #callresponse, a series of local art commissions centering Indigenous women and artists accompanied by a touring exhibition with guest respondents at grunt gallery, co-organized with Maria Hupfield and Tania Willard; Unsettled Sites, a group show on haunting settler colonialism at SFU Gallery; and Cutting Copper: Indigenous Resurgent Practice, a collaboration between grunt gallery and the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery UBC, with co-organizer Shelly Rosenblum.
