A physical
shutter button makes it quick and easy to capture spontaneous action, even if the phone is locked.
Even pressing
the shutter button makes the phone freeze for a couple of seconds.
Along the right side of this phone you have power, volume, and a pair of
shutter buttons all made to feel similar to the aluminum band that wraps around the phone.
Not exact matches
The case is
made out of shock - absorbing material to help your iPhone from the perils of the laws of physics, and the physical
shutter button works with the default camera app.
The iPad 2 camera application in comparison is very basic: there are absolutely no settings available except switching front / rear camera, video / still image, there is no flash and the
shutter button is annoyingly placed at the bottom of the device
making it very hard to operate.
But this has a 8 megapixel camera w / a camera
shutter button (my One S doesn't have & I miss), same 16 GB storage (Which I don't mind, because I stream alot, & now we even have unlimited data), It's
made by HTC, it has the same size screen as am HTC One S, it has beats by dre audio, & it has a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera, that records 1080p, and a 88 - degree lens for wield field view.
It comes with built in shooting programs (for portrait, landscape, sports mode and so on) and the layout of the
buttons on the camera and the menu system
make it easy to adjust exposure, aperture and
shutter speed settings.
We do like the inclusion of the dedicated camera
button, and while we though there's a chance it could be introducing some movement that's causing the blurring, switching to the onscreen
shutter button didn't
make much difference.
Holding your finger down on the
shutter button takes burst photos, and the Google Photos app will pick the best one for you and also automatically
make a little GIF animation of your shots.
It's worse in low - light situations, where you have to stay steady a good two seconds after you press the
shutter button to
make sure the shot isn't blurry.
That not only
made people uncomfortable being around Spectacles, but
made you feel like a bit of a creep just wearing them even if you never tapped the
shutter button.
Most disappointing is the lack of a dedicated two - stage camera
button — we'll
make do without the mechanical
shutter, xenon flash and autofocus - assist light common to devices like the N8, but we'll take a proper mechanical
shutter key over a basic on - screen
button anytime.
Pro mode
makes a return, with features like
shutter speed control and shooting in RAW present, and the new floating camera
button is also on - board.
While we do welcome the presence of camera
shutter buttons on phones (beats tapping on the screen every time), we must confess that we found the positioning of this one odd — it is almost bang in the middle of the side, which
makes it handy for selfies but of very limited use while shooting from the rear camera.
The
shutter speed and auto focus is very quick, which
makes it very easy to snap photos, helped along by the inclusion of a dedicated camera
shutter button.
Something the Xperia XZ2 has in its favor is a dedicated physical
shutter key, which can
make taking photos a lot easier than trying to tap the on - screen
button.
You can use the standard
shutter button inside the camera, press the volume
buttons, use voice control, or hold out your palm towards the camera to
make it click a picture on a timer.
There's also a great «smart burst» feature that fires the
shutter button at about 10 frames per second, giving you a nice slow - motion reel you can
make a gif or choose a single frame from.
Being able to add a second
shutter button anywhere on the screen also
made the camera easier to shoot with one - handed.
The camera app can still lag out here and there,
making you wait before a picture is taken or before the
shutter button responds (which is the least of the J7 Max's performance issues), but the final result is often detailed and of high quality, something I've not seen on previous budget offerings from Samsung.
Sadly for fans of the Dark Theme and Night Mode, Launcher Shortcuts, advanced multitasking shortcuts, those funky new folder icons or the
shutter button in video mode, it looks like these features may not
make the cut.
You can use CAM Plus to
make your smartphone feel more like a point & shoot camera as it gives you a grip with dedicated
shutter button and video recording
buttons, as well as a digital wheel to control the digital zoom.
A slow
shutter lets more light into your camera when you press the capture
button, thereby
making your image brighter.
Finally,
make sure the two Live Focus circles are yellow before pressing the
shutter button.
Its sheer size
makes it difficult to reach the
shutter or volume
buttons (which act as the same) with an outstretched finger, necessitating the need for a balancing second hand.
In addition to
making it a bit easier to hold, it also provides a slightly larger dedicated
shutter button (although the handset on its own also has one) and doubles as a battery pack, charging your phone as you go.
Pulling on the
shutter button to zoom somehow feels like pulling a spring with notches, if that
makes any sense.
The power
button is located under the volume toggle, which
makes it easy to press while reaching for the phone's navigation
buttons (Back, Home, Search), and we really like the feel of the
shutter button, which has a springiness to it that we haven't seen before.
The tripod mount, camera grip, mechanical
shutter button, and extra battery offered by the accessory will only be more than a fun novelty if the phone's image quality is good enough to
make the Lumia 1020 a serious camera.
The exaggerated grip positions your hands so that your index finger naturally falls on
shutter button,
making one - handed use a cinch.
LG's voice commands provide a clever way to take selfies without
making you fumble for the
shutter button.
The past 2 years or so have seen a big shift toward the large single
shutter button design in most camera software, and while some OEMs try to
make theirs look unique Huawei goes straight for the tried - and - true iOS look.
Shooting with the Axon is
made easier by the fact there's a physical
shutter release
button on the side, which also quickly opens the camera app when double - pressed.
Google's camera doesn't have burst mode, and, no, repeatedly pressing the
shutter button doesn't
make up for that, either.
Signature elements of the design
make a return, with the big silver power
button found on its side, with the volume rocker and dedicated camera
shutter button found below it.
There's a
shutter button on the Clips camera itself, for those times when you absolutely want to
make sure you capture a particular shot.
This includes the ability to set alarms, receive incoming call and message notifications, and even the ability to
make gestures using the watch hand in order to use the wearable as a camera
shutter button for connected smartphones.
Where the former detects motion in the viewfinder and captures a few seconds of video before and after pressing the
shutter button, the latter is the search giant's take on the famous beauty mode feature that smoothes out imperfections in a photo to
make it look much better.
That right edge is also home to a volume rocker and dedicated camera
shutter button, both of which are even closer to the bottom edge,
making them just as easy to get to without stretching.
Dedicated camera
shutter and record
buttons make using the Zoom camera a snap.
This is
made worse as the camera
shutter button is slow to react in poorer lighting conditions.
Having a dedicated record and
shutter button always
makes this faster.
