The applicant should also have no major medical conditions (such as
cancer, diabetes or hypertension) and no biological parent or
sibling who
died from heart disease or
cancer before age 60.
Siblings of children with
cancer may witness their brother or sister in physical and emotional pain, experience sudden and extended separations
from him or her, and worry that he or she will
die (Alderfer, Labay, & Kazak, 2003).
