sibling group who may be a good match for your family.
Our waiting children are often older, minorities,
sibling groups who wish to be placed together, or children with emotional, mental and / or physical disabilities - children who are typically categorized as «special needs» or «hardest to place.»
Children Awaiting Parents works on behalf of these children, typically teenagers,
sibling groups who wish to stay together and / or those children with special needs.
In 2001, as a foster and adoptive parent recruiter for the New Mexico Children, Youth & Families Department (CYFD), I had the honor of developing an idea from photographer (and adoptive mother) Cathy Maier: to have talented photographers create inspiring portraits of older children and
sibling groups who were waiting for adoption.
The factors that identify families where alienation is less likely are: abundant positive contact between both parents and the children;

sibling groups.
As part of our programs, we work diligently to advocate for children
who wait due to: age, identified needs, sensitive histories, or because they are a part of a
sibling group.
