of others having religious based governments THAT is what is confusing me — that religion are governments are not seperated that is hard for much
of USA population to understand perhaps it is for me i think you would have to actually
live in a society like the mideast to truly understand it i mean — actually be part
of the society the religious part is truly offputting — since most in USA seperate church and state like — church is for faith and imagination and celebration and
family and community involvement and state is for protection and education and health and infrastructure, etc., for all it is hard to be serious about religion — when the serious
side of society is state it is hard to see religion being the serious
side of enforcement — and the state enforcing the faith based
side of society egad — doesn't god get lost in all that?
But that empirical, visible church, located where we happen to
live and which we can see functioning well or ill, is only the hither
side — the imperfect expression, if you will —
of what the New Testament thinks
of as the «Body
of Christ» and describes as «without spot or blemish,» as «the household
of faith,» and as «the
family of God.»
In some cases this means continuing the author's lead in A Sort
of Life, which, for instance, presents the horrors
of boarding school (on the other
side of the «green baize door» from his
family quarters) as a season in hell, replete with demonic adversaries among the student body.
That the
family did not know sounds more like they did not know her or was that much at her
side at the end
of her
life.
Our objection would be that the Catholic
side of the argument in section 3, on marriage and
family life, is woefully inadequate, and that the non-Catholic
side is presented with unacknowledged quasi-relativist assumptions which are profoundly opposed to Catholic thinking and formation.

of two couples in my familu (have a HUGE

lived abroad for the past 5 years.
